Women Ministry

Most of the women involved are those suffering from HIV/AIDS  and those who have difficult meeting the basic daily needs for their families. Because of the difficult my family faced growing up, I learnt at a very young age how to share with my siblings and others. I used to always have food in my car and in my house and I would give out to those in need (this is how this group started). With the homeless I use the basic theory my husband taught me (if you give someone an apple and he/she refuse, he is not looking for food but money to get high). If am walking to a store and one asks for money, I would offer food instead and we would walk to the next food place. Winter times I always have a blanket or two in my car just incase and to see people put the biggest smiles after receiving fleece blanket is touching. Few  year ago I was driving home in evening rush hour traffic. In Kenya and most of the 3rd world countries, people walk to and from work and so you have tons of people on the side walk. This particular day I had bought a whole roasted  corn on the cob (yeah, I love roasted corn) and  I had eaten maybe a 1/4 of it, I noticed these 4 guys on the side of the road walking home were looking at me and without even thinking about it,  I offered them the corn and one them came over took it and they started sharing the corn looked at me with big smiles and say, “asante Sana” (thank you very much). It was sweet and sad at the same time.

Why the HIV/AIDS women? I had a sister Janet who had been sick as long as I can remember and the Lord took her home July of 2015.  Janet was not carrying the virus, she was epileptic. Due to financial struggles, she never got the proper treatment at the early stage of this epileptic and the seizures damaged her brain causing  her to never function normally again. Seeing the love that was extended to her by my family, I wanted to help those who suffer, or have loved ones suffering; whether its to just sit and enjoy a meal together or give someone a hugs! When we know we have Hope in Jesus Christ, we can extend that by showing love to those who needs it. The smallest act of love speaks more than words will ever speak. We all at one point or another will leave this world (my Husband and my sister and many others did) but we can live a life that is full of Joy because we know one day all the sufferings will be gone and gone forever; never to come again. “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Rev. 21:4)
